It is always a challenge for the mission to work among the poor and needy. For every occasion people look at the Mission to some kind of help. The effectiveness of the Mission work many times depends on how effectively we take up the rehabilitative programs especially among the Hindus. They always expect God’s love in action. Some kind help makes them to be assured that God is and He takes care of His children. This strengthens their faith both in God and in the ministry of the mission. Thus the Mission becomes the part of the communities and the lives of the people. The Mission work is truly challenging, especially along the coastal villages of Andhra Pradesh, where we often face cyclones, Tidal waves, Tsunamis and heavy rainfalls due to depression in the Bay of Bengal destroying everything in its path, which affects the lives of many people. Destruction by natural calamities and relief and rehabilitation programs have almost become like a cycle in the lives of the people. The Mission needs to be prepared to face such challenges, to become more effective and meaningful in the lives of the people to witness Christ.
I am happy to say that IDES has taken up such a challenging ministry and enabling the Missions to be more meaningful in the lives of the people. This is true, especially with NACEA, among these Hindu villages. Through the help, we are able to reach two more villages which is also strengthening the existing congregations. The people are so encouraged that they have come up with a piece of land to build a church building. Now the construction is in process with the help sent by the NACEA’s Board.
We thank God for this achievement and thank IDES for this meaningful support. We also thank our Board for their greater vision for the Mission work. With the help received, we have distributed Rice; Dal; Sugar; Oil; and Cloths to 3000 families in 25 villages. Though it is a small help for the families, it has become more effective building the confidence and faith among the people that God takes care of His children. We are able to see smiling and thankful faces as we distributed the help. This help enabled the families to take of their needs at least for a few days. It is more meaningful and effective because it is a timely help. We hear people saying, “This is the Mission, a Mission of Christ”, a true Mission work.
We thank IDES for making NACEA a true Mission. We also thank our Board for their true vision.
